Nathaniel Hayward papers, 1846-1877.

Bills, receipts, correspondence, and general business papers of Nathaniel Hayward. Most of the receipts are for household goods and services. The correspondence is both personal and professional. It includes letters sent to and written by Hayward. One unique item is an examination piece to be spoken by William Hayward. Nathaniel Hayward, of Colchester, Connecticut, invented a process of vulcanization of rubber. In 1847 he began the Hayward Rubber Company, with which he was involved until his death.
